Bike Week 2012

The Samsung Bike week starts this Saturday and is a part of the larger Summer Of Cycling. The idea is to encourage more people to get on their bikes and go for a ride – during bike week there will be many activities to get involved, so get over to the website and find out what is happening near you.

About Bike Week:

“Samsung Bike Week is an annual opportunity to promote cycling, and show how cycling can easily be part of everyday life by encouraging ‘everyday cycling for everyone’. Demonstrating the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, the week aims to get people to give cycling a go all over the UK, whether this be for fun, as a means of getting around to the local shops, school, the library or just to visit friends.

As the biggest nationwide cycling event in the UK, Samsung Bike Week encourages over half a million people to join in events, rethink their everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around. Find an event near you today.”

We also urge you to have a go of the Cycle calculator and see how much money you could be saving and how many calories you’d be burning – Cycle Calculator

Sal

was brought up riding around in a child seat, showing her competitive streak off at birthday parties at Birmingham Wheels BMX park and spent many weeks cycling around Cornwall and France as a teenager. Bike excursions (mainly to public houses) with friends followed in her early twenties and nowadays she forces her own toddler to ride around in a child seat. Despite pretending not to be a girlie girl, she has owned a series of increasingly pink bikes over the years.Currently training for: BHF South Wales Bike Ride (28 miles).
